Drawing on the Palmer School’s unsurpassed reputation, each candidate for the Master of Science in Library and Information Science degree is offered the opportunity to participate in a capstone internship that will provide them with marketable experience and essential skills for a competitive job market. The internship program offers the chance to train in first-rate professional settings, and our personalized placement services ensure that students have excellent job opportunities, often before they have completed the master’s degree. Internships allow you to explore areas of librarianship that will stretch your imagination!
Each intern develops an individualized Learning Contract in cooperation with his or her faculty advisor and onsite supervising professional. This contract articulates the internship experience, the student’s learning objectives and the methods of evaluation to be used. Internships are available locally, in Long Island, New York City and upstate public library and school systems, as well as international destinations. Please contact palmer@liu.edu for details.
